About Low voltage Lighting
|
Low voltage lighting has been the most fashionable and exciting development in lighting during the last 30 years. The lamp design created an opportunity to design light fittings that were much smaller than equivalent traditional display spotlights (PAR & GLS). The low voltage luminaire is exceptional when a designer wants a small, discreet light source for display or effect lighting. The fittings are small enough to be hidden away or recessed in ceilings to blend with most décors. The lamp is small and powerful providing up to three times the light power within its’ beam spread compared to some similar wattage GLS lamp. It has a dichroic coating applied to the multi-faceted mirror reflector that encloses most lamps and actively draws heat through the rear of the reflector. This minimises the heat going forward in the beam spread making low voltage particularly suitable for illuminating heat sensitive materials such as paintings, watches, jewellery, clothing and fabrics. The colour temperature of the lamp is close to daylight providing great colour rendition, which is why the lamp is so popular in clothing retail outlets, art galleries and jewellers. Recent advancements with this lamp have been the introduction of lamps, which retain constant colour throughout their life without deterioration and life extension to in excess of 5000 hours. |
